Canada dependent visa details
Canada Dependent Visa allows you to bring your dependents to Canada and also allows them to work or study full time once they have the relevant permits. Under the Canada Dependent Visa, you can sponsor the following relationships for a Dependent Visa
:
- Your spouse or common law partner or matrimonial partner
- Dependent children below 21 years of age
- dependent parent or grandparent
- A child you adopted outside of Canada while you have Canadian citizenship or PR. Was
- Your brother, sister, niece, nephew, uncle, aunt or other close relative
The
relationship you sponsor can stay with you in Canada. Your spouse or
marital partner can also apply for a work permit to work in Canada.
Children visa to bring dependent children to Canada
Dependent visas allow sponsors to bring their children to Canada:
- A child adopted outside Canada when the sponsor was a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of the country
- child they intend to adopt in Canada
- Sponsor's brother or sister, nephew or niece, grandson or granddaughter if they are orphans and meet the eligibility criteria
Eligibility Conditions for Children Visa:
- The child must be under 22 years of age, who does not have a spouse, or is not a common-law or marital partner.
- The dependent child must be the biological child or adopted child of the sponsor.
- The child has to prove that he/she is dependent on the sponsor/parent for his/her financial needs.
- There is no age limit for receiving sponsorship for dependent children who are not able to support themselves due to physical or mental condition.
- Sponsor must present proof of their relationship with dependent children.
- The children who are being sponsored will have to undergo a medical examination and also provide proof that there is no criminal case pending against them.
- Medical examination must be performed by a physician who has been approved by the Government of Canada.
Eligibility conditions for sponsoring a dependent:
If a person wishes to sponsor a dependent visa to Canada, they must submit documents that provide information about their finances to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for the past 12 months. This will help officials determine whether the sponsor has the means to financially support those members, including their dependent children.
